Ford Warning Lights

2025 Ford Bronco Sport® Dashboard & Infotainment Center

Most drivers in Amarillo have experienced the worry that comes with seeing an unfamiliar symbol pop up on their dashboard. While some Ford dashboard lights communicate basic, non-urgent information, others serve to warn you when there’s a serious issue with your vehicle’s core components or safety systems. Learn more about some of the essential Ford warning lights with Group 1 Ford of Amarillo! Contact us if you have any questions along the way.

What Do The Ford Dashboard Lights Mean?

The Ford dashboard lights allow your vehicle to communicate with you as you make your way around Canyon. From indicators signaling that associated features are in use, to Ford warning lights that alert you to potentially serious issues, here are some common symbols you may see on your instrument display:

  • Eco Mode: An indicator light that looks like a leaf means you’re driving in Eco Mode, which prioritizes fuel efficiency.
  • Front Airbag: A flashing or consistently illuminated symbol showing a passenger with an inflated airbag indicates an issue with the airbag system. Bring your vehicle in for service promptly.
  • Engine Oil: An illuminated oil can symbol that remains on signals a system error. When it’s safe, park your vehicle and turn the engine off to check the engine oil level. If the light stays on despite having an appropriate oil level, have your vehicle inspected immediately.
  • Brake System Warning Lamp: If you see a “BRAKE” light on your dashboard while driving in Clovis, NM, double-check that your parking brake is not applied. If the parking brake is off and the light stays on, schedule service immediately.
  • Service Engine Soon: If the engine icon illuminates while the engine is running, the On-Board Diagnostics system has detected an error in the vehicle emission control system. If the light continuously flashes, the engine may be misfiring. In either case, your vehicle should be inspected without delay.
  • Engine/Motor Coolant Temperature: The warning icon of a thermometer with wavy lines indicates that your vehicle’s coolant temperature is too high. When it’s safe to do so, pull over to turn your vehicle off and let it cool down. You will need to have your vehicle towed to the dealership for service.
  • Battery: If the battery icon appears and remains illuminated while you’re driving, switch off any unnecessary electrical components and arrange to have your vehicle checked as soon as possible.
  • Powertrain Fault: An illuminated wrench icon indicates a powertrain, 4WD, or AWD fault. Ford cautions against driving your vehicle with this light on, and you should schedule service immediately.

There are many additional dashboard lights beyond those we discussed. If you see a light that you don’t understand, feel free to call our service center at 806-467-5522 for assistance.
